Just to get something off my head.
Lately i've been getting really weird dreams. Like i can't even comprehend it. But its just been wrecking my head.
Its like my head is just a big mess. And a millions things are going on in there all at once. Guess its only cuz its exam time for me and i'm a little stressed cuz of it. But it was never this bad.

Its like when i go to bed, my head feels like stravinsky is chopping up his firebird suite with a big chainsaw. And when i go to sleep, i get really weird dreams which when i wake up from in the morning, i feel awfully sick and tired and just don't feel good about it all. Kinda even slightly depressing. Like my brain had just completed a marathon while my body was asleep!

Now i always used to get pretty vivid and weird dreams. But they used to be kinda interesting, even exciting. Kinda like movie plots. Now its just an awful mess.
I just can't seem to shut my brain down. Just make things a little quiet in there.
Now i don't wanna go to a doctor cuz, i don't have the time for it right now and also i don't wanna take any medication for it.

Dunno why i'm saying this all over here. But just wanted to lighten my head i presume, dunno if it'll be of any help... But worth a shot.
Its exam times, i wanna be able to maintain a cool, calm and quiet head. But its the exact opposite. I've been feeling slightly depressed and quite ADDish...

    Hey OP
I know it's difficult around exam time, but they say you sleep better if you have a bit of a routine. Get up at the same time every morning. Try to do a bit of study everyday so you're not feeling guilty or under pressure when you go to bed. In the evenings, go for a walk a couple of hours before you go to bed, then come home and do things that relax you -don't eat anything (especially sugary things!) or start studying again because this will get your mind worked up again! Maybe read, take a bath, listen to music? It might help as well if you have dimmed light in the room and try to go to bed at the same time every night. If something keeps going through your head as you're trying to get off to sleep maybe write it down, I always find when I'm reading something I've just written, it never seems as bad as it was in my head!
Hope this helps, and good luck in the exams! ;)

Could it be there's too much caffeine in your diet? If so, this would explain why you're not getting a proper restful sleep.
Try to avoid anything containing a lot of caffeine(coffee, coca cola) within a few hours of bedtime. I'd suggest cutting it out altogether, or limiting it to morning/early afternoon only.
If it's not this, it's probably down to some other area of your diet that needs to be changed/adjusted.

    Nah, not a caffine addict.
Just have the odd red bull in the morning to wake me up before the exam. But not anything before bedtime.

I'ld say its stress related. I'll probably wait till my exams are over and if my head is still a mess, i'll go to my GP to see what he's got to say about it.

    fibbertyjibbet,
guess it is cuz of the lack of sleep i've had all week. And also the stress and lack of exercise.
Its just sometimes the content of the dream is quite traumatizing. Well, traumatizing might not be the right word. But it just wrecks with your head for a good while even after you've woken up.

And like i'm a happy guy, i'm well past those days i used to depressed and all due to some crap going on in my life, but when i woke up after the dream, i just felt a little depressed. So it was just bothering me all day.
But well i'll see how tonight goes. I don't have another exam till tuesday so i'm not as stressed right now.

    cheers for the replies.

I am not going to move this from here

Yes there is a sleeping and dreaming forum but I feel the OP can get good advice here at what is a difficult time for them

If other Mods feel this is the wrong call they can feel free to move at a later time

I used to find that when I was over tired I would get these weird dreams, it'd be like stripy/square patterns would be all I could see and they'd be moving about in front of me. My head would be sore when I was trying to sleep and the dream always left me feeling like I needed to throw up when I woke, though I never actually threw up.

Maybe your just wrecked and need some extra sleep, like a nap during the day.
