I have a voucher for a free fourball for a certain course which expired last year. Forgot all about it and found it cleaning.

So I dropped them a mail enquirying if I could still use it.

    Got the following reply
It is the policy of the Hotel not to accept Vouchers after the expiry date,

If you had contacted us before the it had expired we would have honored the voucher.

    Please accept our apologies.

Not as if it would cost them anything but only make money as we would have gone in for a bit to eat afterwards.

I feel like replying by saying something along the lines of I am disappointed or I could say disappointed and that I would never recommend the course to anyone.

I think it is bad form from them but as it is expired they are well within their rights

I can see their point of view based on the fact that the voucher has expired but im very suprised they didnt even try to meet you half way.
I would have thought they would say something along the lines of 2 lads pay, 2 lads go free. Given the way the country is im sure every golf club in the country needs the money and as you rightly point out you would have bought drinks/meals afterwards.
Would I be right in saying that even though the voucher you got was for a free fourball, somewhere along the line someone has already paid the club the price of that fourball to get the voucher in the first place? Did you win the voucher?

Hard luck anyways, their loss in my opinion.

I got a email (Work account) from them last night as I am on the mailing list so I replied back with my disappointment about the above

They called me today and having a nice conversation they gave me a free fourball no problem.

The reply I got was from the hotel reception and nothing to do with the golf end of things and hence the simple no.

This is a disgrace - Why did you not name and shame them. For this reason I think golf green fee vouchers are a lousy prize or gift. As you say they would not be losing out as you might have also returned if you enjoyed the round. Name the bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
