Broken preamp?

I just bought a lovely Crafter SAT hybrid guitar online, but when I plugged it into my VOX Amplug simulator and also direct into a mixing desk's Mic input I got no sound at all. Battery in the guitar is fine but I'm not measuring any voltage on the output. The guys I bought it from are sending me a new preamp board for it, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas on it? I'm thinking it's possibly the switch on the output jack is not turning on. Very disappointed as it's a beautiful guitar and has a nice unplugged sound.

is it a stereo jack? does it need a stereo cable?

It has a stereo jack on it alright, but it'll take either. So you can send the acoustic direct to a PA and the electric to an amp if you like...

Update: It turned out anyway when I popped the cover off that the battery cable was loose where it connected to the preamp and wasn't actually making contact most of the time. Loving the electric sound (finally!)

Not going to jinx it by opening the back again for a while!
