I just received my college results today. I had been expecting to get a 2:1 but alas I got a 2:2.

I had a conditional offer of 2:1 fro Pharmacy. Is there any hope of getting it now? To be honest. I have never been this upset in my life.

Talk to your course director and work out how close you are to a 2:1. If you are close, ask for your marks to be reviewed.

Otherwise, get a transcript of your results and talk to the people in the Pharmacy department and see if they will accept those results. Ask is there anything extra that you can do to improve your chances.

    Do everything that Victor said.

Also, maybe an additional qualification could help you. Perhaps a Postgraduate Diploma or even a Masters?

As sunflower said, chin up. Everything's going to be ok.

Don't mean to be a prick but... Review of the exam papers can also result in down grading your results...

Any way of running repeats in August?

I know a few people who got jobs conditional on them getting certain grades. They got 2:2s instead of 2:1s yet still got in. So don't panic!

Hey guys.I just got home now.I went and talked to professor and he told me I got 57% but it would be unlikely to get higher. Its just really annoying as I got a 2:1 every other year of college.I have always wanted to Pharmacy and I am gutted. It is so annoying.I was talking to a friend and her sister got Pharmacy through UCAS clearing a couple of years ago.So there is some hope even if it is small.

Nope, repeats only happen if you fail the subject and you can't get honours in them.
(Bloody right too, why should those who get more time to study have a chance to get better marks?).

    Anyway, back on topic:

Sorry to hear that an appeal is unlikely to help you OP. Have a look at the UCAS thing and possibly try getting on to the people in charge of the pharmacy. You only missed it by 3% so it is worth a shot.

Hi, can I ask you to put a space after each full stop. I had no problem fixing the first post, but I'm not fixing them all.

Using proper grammar, spelling, etc. means people can understand you better and are more likely to help you. Poor spelling also makes it harder on those with reading difficulties.

That's not true. Colleges do allow for people to repeat exams for circumstances other then failing. Judging from what the OP has said, s/he appears to be in final year, so she would presumably have to repeat the whole year rather than sit repeats.

OP, how exactly are you applying to pharmacy? Through graduate entry? Just it will affect the advice offered? Also, I am surprised to hear that Pharmacy places were offered through UCAS clearing and doubt that is the norm.

In some colleges/unis you can repeat a certain amount of credits to improve your results (in NUIM it's 15 credits without losing honours)

That's known as defering. Nothing at all to with repeats.

Are there any sort of limitations on this? As systems go, it sounds very open to abuse.

Also OP, even though you may not want to hear this: a 2:2 is still a very good result. You should celebrate all the work you did and try and work out where you're going from now separate to that. Don't let one potential disappointment taint your graduation.

Sorry I phrased my post badly, I meant that one is allowed to repeat exams even if they have already passed them. i.e. to improve a grade. Although I feel it's pretty obvious that I didn't mean deferring, since 'repeat' implies 'more than once'.

    Hey OP,

Im assuming from your posts, with you sayin you got a 2.2 you are applying as a graduate?
I did a degree and in my final year I applied for both undergraduate courses and accelerated masters courses (as a graduate) in the UK.

I got a conditional offer for 2.1 for the masters but after my exams I didnt think Id gotten the 2.1 so I rang the admissions office of the particular college and I was informed that if I had only got a 2.2, they would ask me to do a dissertation and if they thought this was a 2.1 standard they would still offer me a place.

So OP there may ways around the conditional offer. And with a 2.2 you have an honors degree, so well done, its still a great achievement!! Best of luck xx

I have never been this upset in my life

Well you must have had an easy life thus far!

A lot of my friends who didn't get get the courses they wanted after the lc were pretty devastated as well yet they went on to love whatever they actually did study.

If you really really want to study Pharmacy then you will find a way. Even if it takes you a bit longer!

The limitation is 15 credits, that's 2, maybe 3 modules, out of the 60 credits required for the year. I don't see how it's open to abuse, there's no guarantee you'll get better marks in the repeat exam.
