Not sure if this is the right forum (mod. feel free to move if necessary)

Are members of religious denominations, (not just RC, but Protestant, Jew Muslim etc) vetted by the Garda? If not should they be?

    Any thoughts anyone?

My belief is that they should reason being, they are in positions of authority in their respective communities, engaged in both spiritual and community works, with access the the vulnerable in their respective communities.

I believe in this instance the will of the state should overrule the will of the relevant religion

Are you talking about religious leaders, as opposed to members of the faiths?

    No to both.

How many of the priests referred to in the Ryan report would show up with criminal records, now, or at the time of their employment as religious leaders and youth workers?
