regarding your poll - congregations should pay 50/50

600 million euros as Mary Raftery points out, the department of finance recommended 50/50 to The Minister Michael Woods at the time (1999) who was accused by Pat Rabbit TD of being supine and 'arse licking' in his dealings, (RTE Radio 1 1PM interview)

the un Christian Brothers have said it is 'complicated' as they have moved their substantial wealth into a trust in preparation for this episode

all the moneys and properties the congregations have (a lot)_ come from gifts from Irish people in the first place

the Irish Examiner stated in an editorial that the day for asking is past and just use executive order to sieze whats needed by court order

the original deal is bogus as the Congregations knew than what we only know now...many rapists hidden and protected and moved around by those clergy who were not raping children..probably only assaulting them...

I said the other day it should be 50/50, but after reading some of the report last night, I think the religious should foot the majority of the bill. They did sweet fk all to known abusers and rapists, but moved them about to commit more atrocities in other institutions whenever an issue arose. They had the power over the state and they knew it and abused it. They have plenty of fking money made from the backs of the children, not to mention land. I don't see why we should have to pay for their scummy misconduct.

Er... why should the Irish Gov. be paying out for the Catholic Church?

Starting to wander myself if alot of our Finance Ministers missing money is due to all these payouts for the Catholic Church that aren't final yet...

    what about my poll?

poll does not include this option, your poll could have been constructed by the congregations - it muddies the waters and there is a lot of that going on

I don't see why this merits an additional thread of its own.
