Chlamydia and a bit clueless

With my first sexual partner I have contracted chlamydia. (no blame to the other person, I accept the fault my choice, they had a different sti leading me to get tested) Hospital told me it is a relative minor infection (and I have low level infection?) but I am still a bit confused

    - does this for example affect my ability to give blood? (I can't for the life of me find an old letter from the blood board that has the survey on the back, would anyone have a link?)
-is there anything else anyone can tell me about it?
    - I know its probably not that serious in the greater scheme of things but am a bit freaked out, are there any Irish stats on how prevalent it is? Is this something/part of life I should just get over?
