I like the last one, but I feel if a lower angle was taken and maybe center the boardwalk in your image, it would have been perfect (caveat: I'm no expert, just pretending) :p

Thats a 'good attitude', ie. you will force yourself to get better ! ;)
Overall, they are not bad, especially if you only have the SLR a week.

I got my d90 last friday, had a fuji s5500 for ages before.
I used the auto, landscape and no flash settings for those pictures. I then used nikon view to increase the exposure on a few and added some more colour and light.
Iv alwaysd Just messed around really, ive a fair idea in my head of what im trying to do even tho im not to tech savy with a and s mode, but im learning quickly.

Gonna start using the a and s modes alot more. I feel once i fully understand/master them i should be pretty handy!

Well pump up that S setting for a crisp photo of the Red Arrows - they'll be flying over Galway in about 30mins!

Or put it in 'manual', check, put focus in manual & infinity, check, put ISO at 100 or 200, check, put white balance at 5600, check, put aperture at f8, check, put metering at 'center-weighted', check, shoot in RAW (unless shooting FPS with JPEGS), check, check IS (image stabilization) for Lens and dial in correct value, check, look thru viewfinder & dial in correct exposure, check, wait for Red Arrows..........OK I'm ready !! :p
Noooooo.....I forgot to check memory card (or battery!)
