Speed Limit Signs

    Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if there is a set requirement for how many speed limit signs should be on a stretch of road? In other words, is there meant to be a speed limit sign every X amount of kilometers or is it up to the council?

I regularly drive from Kilkenny to Urlingford which is roughly 30km. The speed limit on the entire road is 80km/h but there are only two signs indicating this; one leaving Kilkenny and one leaving Freshford. As a result most people go 100km/h. This doesn't bother me but it bothers me when I get tailgated or overtaken dangerously because I do go the speed limit.

So just wondering if there should be more signs on the road or if it's just one of those things?

There is guidance on it. Its either in the Traffic Signs Manual or NRA's DMRB

I'm pretty sure there's only a sign when the speed changes.

They usually have the repeater signs after a side road joins, but most people don't seem to notice them.
