Ok my father has taken ill with a blocked urinary tract from an enlarged prostate which may require surgery next week .
His flight is with aer lingus for tue 2nd june .
Can i be refunded? or will i just bite the bullet and ask for alternative days later in the year ?
How do they treat people in this situation

You could try ringing them but wouldn't expect them to do much for free to be honest. I don't THINK they have any terms which allow you to change.

    Did he have travel insurance?

He doesnt have travel insurance with aerlingus but he might have his own travel insurance i will have to ask later.
He flies with them half a dozen times in the year i hope they are somewhat helpful!

If you bought a flexifare you can change the dates free of charge or be refunded. If it's a lowfare then regardless of the circumstances you will not get a refund, but may change dates paying the difference and a change fee. Individual cases don't make a pick of difference.
