Hi. Got a call from a client who wants to do a Gospel album with a more contemporary production. My impression is that it's going to to be somewhere between gospel to hip-hop and I am definitely no expert in these genres.

Does anyone on this forum considers himself an expert, and would like to collaborate at my studio?

    All the best.

    Shay.

I recently did a couple of gigs with a gospel choir, and 2 of my band mates are in choirs. They have very, very little to do with hip hop. The only thing actual contemporary gospel has to do with hip hop is that it stems from an African American background. Recording choirs well is tricky business by all accounts too. If it's hip hop leanings you're after I know a very good guy.

I don't have a problem with choirs. The hiphop part was the weakest link, but might collaborate with DamagedTrax on this.

    cheers.

PMI droppin' those beats an' flyin' high JZee style. Gotta get the Hennessy and the Krystal on the rider too dogg!

It's gonna be a real challange to get it to stand up beside any of the serious US modern gosple stuff. I worked with some american hip hop and gospel acts in the past. Kirk Franklin was probably the highest end act. The standard of the work on those sessions was immaculate, really top quality recordings. That was mainly R'n'B as opposed to Hip-Hop, the HH stuff is usually a bit more edgy and raw, not really suitable for modern gospel IMO.
Currently working on an Afro-Beat Gospel recording, most excellent vibes.
