Could anybody tell me how doable a car journey from Morocco to Cape Town or even a train journey is? How long would such a journey take?

    Thanks

Train is probably close to being impossible, pretty sure many trainlines don't traverse borders, arent working, extremely uncomfortable, don't cross the sahara or just arent functioning. I'd say if you were to attempt to do it it'd take close to 3-4 months, South Africa has the most advanced rail network on the continent, and thats very very very slow.

It's probably possible to do it by automobile, but I think a car wouldn't hack it so well to be completely honest, try a 4x4.

Watch Long Way Down for an idea.

Is this a one-way or return journey? If one-way, I can't see a hire car company in Morocco allowing you to return a vehicle in SA. And insurance for both countries plus all those in between?

It sounds like some adventure, one which I envy you for.. but I'm just not sure how doable it is, at all.

Sounds like torture to me anyway.
I saw some company in England that advertised trips on big 4x4s for trips similar to that. I think they were advertised in the Sunday Times.

Im interested as to why you would like to do it.

I would love to do something like that but would probably start with crossing the US first.

I've always wanted to travel from Ireland to Singapore (where my better half's from), entirely overland (ok, here to France excepted). Probably do it in a couple of years, once we've saved enough. Great way to get from A to B while seeing heaps in between. I'd say it wouldn't be cheap though. Nor quick.
