The other half has decided that she would like to go away for Christmas this year.

Neither of us have been away for Christmas before so I'm looking for some destination suggestions.

    Criteria is as follows....

    1) Cheapish.....1000-1500 all in for the two of us (probably for a week/10 days)

    2) Warm.

    3) NOT Spain or Turkey.

Does anyone know if southern Italy is nice (weather) over Christmas?

    cheers

Although Italy is warmer than here it will not be enough to sway you. The furthest you could go to expect a nice time would be Scilily but then again you wont really get the weather.

For a deal you can see now online and in travel agents you should consider the Canary Islands as they are close to the equator and within a good price range.

    Where would I go?

Egpyt, Sharm El Sheikh to be correct. Amazing hotels at good prices and even the likes of http://Budgettravel.ie offer holidays there.

i was in rome a few years ago for new years and the weather was nice, we then headed south to sorrento where the weather was lovely, about 17-18 degrees every day and sunny

the only places near enough where you'd have a chance of good weather (>20degrees) in december would be the canarey islands or north africa(tunisia, morocco, egypt) unless you got a cheap package to florida or the caribbean?. other parts of the med, not as far south would be nice but not sunbathing or swimming weather. you would be surprised how cheap some caribbean package holidays are to places like the dominican republic especially if you book it through a uk travel agent and go from uk.

1,500 euro is max for both of you 750each, you will get 2star s/c in lanzarote for that, i was just priceing it this morn for the wk of new years for myself and the 2kids with fal*on and it double the price for the same thing a couple wks earlier, i think xmas is a little cheaper but not much, i looked at firstchoice in the uk but it would cost me 400euro between flights/hotel to the uk.
