Please try and recommend me some good comedy films. The thing is though if its been in a top 50 or is well known the chances are I have seen it, so please try to recommend some of the more obscure funny films.

EDIT: A taste of my humour: The Office (both US & UK), Extras, Arrested Development, Airplane!, Monty Python, Anchorman

    + 1

    Il est mignon, Monsieur Pignon
Il est méchant, Monsieur Brochant :D

And the "squeaky spring sequence" in Delicatessen is brilliant.

Some from my collection you might like: Best In Show, Dogma, Evolution, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, ... Jackass: The Movie. :P

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Have a look at La Cage aux Folles (1978) french comedy set in a Nite Club, most sucessful foreign film in the US for many years and the music was composed by Ennio Morricone.

Hmmm if someone asked me to name a comedy I don't think Delicatessen or In The Company of Men would immediately spring to mind... May as well recommend Fargo!

    I loved this:
    A Cock and Bull Story

Yeah me too. I have it recorded on Sky+ and just can't bring myself to delete it!
Car Rental Agent: [cheerfully] Welcome to Marathon, may I help you?

    Neal: Yes.

Car Rental Agent: How may I help you?

Neal: You can start by wiping that ****ing dumb-ass smile off your rosey, ****ing, cheeks! Then you can give me a ****ing automobile: a ****ing Datsun, a ****ing Toyota, a ****ing Mustang, a ****ing Buick! Four ****ing wheels and a seat!

Car Rental Agent: I really don't care for the way you're speaking to me.

Neal: And I really don't care for the way your company left me in the middle of ****ing nowhere with ****ing keys to a ****ing car that isn't ****ing there. And I really didn't care to ****ing walk down a ****ing highway and across a ****ing runway to get back here to have you smile in my ****ing face. I want a ****ing car RIGHT ****ING NOW!

Car Rental Agent: May I see your rental agreement?

    Neal: I threw it away.

    Car Rental Agent: Oh boy.

    Neal: Oh boy, what?

    Car Rental Agent: You're ****ed!

    and who could forget;
[waking up after sharing the same bed on the motel]

Neal: Del... Why did you kiss my ear?

Del: Why are you holding my hand?

Neal: [frowns] Where's your other hand?

    Del: Between two pillows...

    Neal: Those aren't pillows!

Actually, I think I'll watch it again tonight!

Office Space is legend!! Especially if you work in IT .

Swingers and Happy Gilmore are also favourites!

Yeah, Office Space is class. Waiting for Guffman, The Big Lebowski, Death at a Funeral, Sweet & Lowdown, The King of Comedy, The 40 year old Virgin, High Fidelity, and for the old 'so bad its hilarious' factor Speed 2: Cruise Control!!!

    Thanks for this recommendation.
It's good, but it's a little disappointing regarding the dinner never happens. Intriguing idea, but I feel we're shown one extended scene and never get to view main act.

I took delivery, this morning, of Midnight Run starring Robert de Niro. It's great. I'm looking forward to the weekend even more.

Loads of effing and blinding. Decent action/road/buddy movie - kinda infectious fun,.

Yeah Charles Grodin is great in it. Manages to pull at your heart strings but in that good 80's kind of way. De Niro can only do funny when he plays it straight like in this.

Considering the OP's tastes I can't believe no one has mentioned Spinal Tap.

If you haven't seen 'Withnail & I' yet today, stick it on NOW!

The most quotable screenplay ever, it's got every kind of comedy in it, Grant is his sneering best and the support cast is just nuts.

    Accept no substitutes.
