back boiler or similar

    when i built my house about 6 years ago i just put in oil heating with an open fire but now im looking to put in a back boiler and connect to my raditor pipes ,is this possible to do or is there something similar i can do ,i will be trying to do this as cheap as possible ,i will have to rip up semi solid wooden floor and want to know can i relay it or is it useless after i lift up ,

    It depends on your cylinder, and assuming an unpressurised system. If your hotpress cylinder has an imersion heater as well as the oil heating then it has two coils, if you want to add another heat source with the back boiler then your tank will need three coils (a new tripple coil cylinder in other words) and you will need to get the pipework from the fire to the hotpress. You may be able to use a an existing header tank as an expansion tank. Best get a good heating expert to advise as the location of the cylinder to the fire is going to be a big factor.

    If it has been glued it will probably not be usable, imo., otherwise if you get it up without damageing it it should be usable, if that makes sense.
