Is it for a family holiday? We went there every summer for about 5 or 6 years, I was 11 the last time. Can't really comment on cleanliness, seemed ok, but we had great fun there at the time. Don't know how much things have changed since then.

if you are talking about the holiday homes right in frount of the barleycove beach hotel then they are beautiful. i havent stayed in them but have been down to the hotel recently and they look really nice. they are newly built with fantastic views and if they are run by the hotel they will be great quality.
we used to holiday in barleycove all the time and it is a fantastic part of the world. the hotel is small and intimate but so friendly and is used by all the holiday homes/caravans because that is the only bar/restaurant near. i would highly hightly recommend a holiday there.

we used to go down aswell for a few years back in the 80's

First year we stayed in a friends caravan that they owned. We rented the pitch and his dad drove it down from Cork.

The following year, 3 of us rented a mobile home from the caravan park.

We used to have a great time...walking up to the hotel in the evening trying to get the timing right with the tide, the teenage discos, buying drink from the hotel bar when we were under age but one of the lads looked just about old enough.

I was going out with a girl from Ballincollig whose family had a mobile home there so I had an interest going there, but its just a great place and with Schull & Goleen on your doorstep, the scenery is great aswell
