    Hi all,

Just a heads up about this weekend:

    Friday 29th May:

    18:00PM

Irish Coast Guard Sikorsky S61N SAR Demo Off Salthill Promenade With The RNLI.

    Saturday 30th May:

    11:30AM

RAF Red Arrows Off Salthill Promenade.

I advise all coming to Salthill for the Red's to be in Salthill for at least 11AM if not earlier in order for you to get your spot to view the Red's Display which is just under 30Minutes long, remember "Show Center" is the Car Park at Salthill.

The Red's have to display at 11:30AM due to the fact they need to be in Paris at 17:00PM on Saturday.

It is hoped that two Irish Naval Ships ( LE Aisling and LE Roisin ) will be in the Bay for the weekend.

    Enjoy Enjoy,

    Dave.

hardly seems worth coming all the way from cork for it. How come its not as big as other years?

Because the council stopped funding it, presumably due to GAAW. If you're worried about being bored, fear not!

There will be in-port racing along the bay(ironically enough) where you get to see the green dragon and all the other boats showing off what they are really capable of doing, and in the race village there are loads of amenities for all the family. Trad on the prom are on the main stage that evening and they are just breathtaking. It is quite a trek from Cork though it must be said but there are a lot of deal going on around the place, I know for example you can get the train from athlone to Galway for a fiver

Jasus Darragh that's a funny location you have there! :pac:

Ill be driving there from Dublin. It is a pity there is no more aircraft but it will be worth making a day out of it.

I think some people on here are still under the impression that this an airshow. It isn't, its just part of the festivities surrounding the Volvo Ocean Race stop over in Galway. It is, however, great to have the reds back in Galway.

That eurofighter thing was a complete rumour then was it?

    Also,
Theres no sign of any practice session on the red arrows site so I assume there wont be anything to see tomorrow?

The Tiffie was not a rumour, we had her confirmed but she went "Tech" so is a no go, but we have the worlds Number 1 display Team The Red Arrows for Salthill. Also they dont practice before a show, but there is the SAR Demo at 18:00 tomorrow.

"Tech" is a slang word for "Technical Issue/Fault" basically she ( The Aircraft ) is being a bitch and wont fly!

I'm in North Clare and won't make it up but has anyone an idea of the flight plan for the Red Arrows? Was wondering if there was the possibility of a fly over :)

    121.75 for the RAs, yes?

What about the SAR Demo is that frequency open?

Strange, usually they have a second plane on stand-by given the Typhoon's tendancy to go tech!

    Unlucky....

absolutely:) Not sure about the SAR freq though.

There is a TRA in operation over the bay for it, charts here http://www.iaa.ie/files/2009/images/20090522051951_Volvo%20Galway%20Bay%20TRA.pdf

It gives you a good idea of where would be a good spot for parking yourself for the day. :)
