Is there a brief description as to the differences between the two in Ireland?

I'm specifically looking at the MUD Bill (2009).

According to the Irish Times new legislation was published today. Does this mean that this is law now, or does it still have to go through the legislative process described here? Does a Bill turn into an Act when it grows up?

A bill is basically proposed legistation, if passed by both houses of the Oireachtas and then signed by the president then it becomes an act...

... when it grows up :)

That's what I was thinking, thanks. So there's still plenty of time for it to be messed about. Ah well.

Its only at the 1st stage, so yes. You can use the oireachtas website to track its progress.
