Ok, caught myself an acute viral infection and couldn't eat for about 4 days and had serious hydration problems. Only starting to eat again, very little appetite at the moment and being careful what I eat as my digestive system is taking kindly too any pressure.

Any ideas what I can expect with regards to muscle/strength loss when I do return to the gym? Going to see how I feel and maybe go Saturday.

Not much really. Everyone get's sick, it won't ruin your progress. I know you weren't eating but once you get back to it the benefits of giving your CNS a break might negate any muscle wastage. After a week back you'll forget you were ever sick.

So any point in dropping weight on return? I'm going to try and avoid it.

Take a good rest. Ensure you are eating and drinking enough to give your body time to recover fully.

When you do go back take it easy on the first few days.

Apart from that what did your doctor say? Maybe best to ask him/her.
