Anyone know what ball is being used in the Lions series?

I think its Rhino but am not sure.

If its not Gilbert, O'Gara will be in trouble.

So do you want to know what ball it is, or just have another dig at RO'G?

    .

As far as I know it's an oval shaped item, commonly referred to as a 'rugby ball'...unless there's been some sort of wild schism in the rugby world resulting in the adoption of odd shaped balls of a different sort in the SH.

Could I also say that, interestingly enough, while this thread is ostensibly about balls, it also happens to be balls....nice trick.

I think it was a fair comment, RO'G's issues with the mitre ball in the past has been a factor in games against Italy & perhaps he will need some time to adjust to a different ball. Can't remember what they used the last time we played down there

He's probably wumming but it's something I hadn't thought about, but when I do begins to make sense.

He also had issues with that yellow adidas ball in NZ a few years back (along with others in the squad). It's a well known fact that these balls are more round than the Gilbert ones so behave very differently when kicked..

There was a lot more than O'Gara that had issues with different balls in the past. The IRB triggered an Investigation in the last world cup after complaints from Carter and Wilkinson. It's a joke that there isn't a single ball type for rugby and it's just another example at how far the IRB still needs to come in the professional era.

jaysus - that question raised some hackles....

it was genuine lads and I wasn't stirring it.

just wanted to know what ball there was. And yes it was due to the "Lemon" ball used in New Zealand a couplke of years ago. I'd actually forgotten about the italy game.

O'Gara has commented on the different balls in the past and his trouble with them

O Gara had a problem with his own balls last week when the queen stopped to chat.

So the oval shaped item used in rugby league is the same as rugby union then?

Jesus lads give the op a break, there is a difference and o gara has said before he feels less comfortable with certain types of balls, there has been a general lack of petty squabling on this forum in recent weeks lets keep it that way.
