Hey, I have a few bits and pieces comming in from hong kong and I "think" they are being held in customs, when I call sds they tell me it is in customs from the 26/05 but customs have no record of it, does it normally take a few days to work its way through customs
When I do a track and trace on the parcel it is showing as item recieved but below it, it says that it is on route to me
So should I expect a letter from customs/an post tomorrow or my box of bits

Well, what did you order? If it was just bits and pieces then you should be ok. Customs took 2 or 3 days clearance for my last order and that was just accessories

Off the top of my head I ordered a tac vest, goggles, balaclava, mask, red dot, gloves, battery and Im sure 1 or 2 other things but no airsoft guns or bbs
    Im just an impatient fecker

The reason that customs have no record of it could be that they dont have it. SDS dont have a "Sent to the Gardai" checkbox. So they hit customs instead. Airsoft guns get sent to ballistics quite regularly, we guess new any new guys arent necessarily breifed on the fact that airsoft is legal. If the gear you ordered looked like it could be headed for a some sort of gang/illegal organisation then somebody checking could have been spooked and sent if off.

On a more positive note, its also likely that customs do have it, they are pretty uselss for customer service from my dealings with them.

cheers, was just looking forward to having it all the gear for the weekend

If its with the park with the boys in blue how long will it be or is that like asking how long a piece of string is

Should I ring them and remind them who pays their wages :D

You didn't buy an eotech by any chance did you? Customs seem obsessed with them...

Yeah, if its in the park the average wait time seems to be at least 2 months.
    My MP7 took 3.

Sorry if I'm thread stealing here but what would be the story with bringing a GBB back from the states in luggage? It isnt shooting over the limit or anything..

You'd want to inform the airline beforehand and have a receipt. Be prepared to say income tax though

Cool thanks guys, even with taxes it's still cheap http://hotspotairsoft.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_189&products_id=2889:D

I don't know I'll you'll have to pay import tax on it, but if you do it'' be an extra 21.5% I think.

Also you will have to make sure that whatever airline you are using will allow the transport of airsoft guns, as not all of them do. And if they do allow it you will be charged a "firearms fee" or something to that nature, and that can be from €20 up.

Ive dealt with customs before for a period of over 6 months and they can be a right pain. Just hope a certain CF dosent get a hold of it cos youll be waiting for ages.

I just ordered a pfi smokecap silencer from a hk based airsoft company i got it sent through hong kong airmail, i ordered it on the 18th of may and on the 22nd of may the order status was processing and then went to 'sent out to process' now it says

    Dear Customer,
You order have been packing, and 3-5 days will send to Custom to process, and we will send your tracking no. to you later, if you have any question please contact us.

how long will it take to come and would customs people take it beacause it is realistic and everything, should i expect it to come soon or does the hk airmail take a long time to send things

Have been hit with customs three times (so far)
Twice I had to pay vat/fees (With UPS courier)

Once I had something held and asked for a copy of my firearms licence, Rang them (They were ignorant on the phone) and faxed them my invoice (from email) and it was
    released same day.

A few times I've not had any delays but have had
stickers on my packages saying that they were opened and
    inspected by customs.

do you have to have a firearms licence to get them to give you what they are holding, or do they think they are for a real gun did you send them a copy of the order,

Once the airsoft device is legal (ie under 1j of power) you do not need a firearms licence.

Anyone had any trouble getting EOTech's? I've heard customs take a particular fancy to them and take a lot of interest in them?

I have a pair of GBB pistols being held since the 27th of February. I have given up hope of ever getting them. Every time I call I get the runaround. Sigh.

I just ordered a m203 launcher, mags, battery, grenades(for launcher) and a charger from ehobby with express mail What do you think the chances of it getting stopped are?
    Thanks

i know you dont need a licence but what did you do when they asked for a copy of your firearms licence

Rang them & Faxed them my invoice, Told them on the phone it was not a firearm. They did not even want to talk to
me on the phone and the female voice the answered did not
seem to give a damn about explinations or any the converstaion, all she wanted to hear was that I woud fax or email them a copy of my invoice.
