Shoulder/Rotator Cuff injury ??

Done an injury to my rotator cuff over a week ago. The point of pain seems to be where the shoulder and arm bone ( ball and socket ? ) meet, but it seems just to be strained, not torn. Very painful for the first day or two, couldn't lift my arm much higher than parallel to my shoulder. However rest and a few good night's sleep have improved it greatly it seems - but I obvioulsy don't want to go back training too early.

Anyone had a similiar injury and how long were you out with it ?

( BTW, injury seems to have been caused by punching a too light bag and over extending my shoulder as I punched it, instead of hitting something solid )
