Carribean or Med Cruise??

    Hello all,

Myself and the good woman are hoping to book our honeymoon in the coming weeks (we're getting married at the start of June so hoping to head on honeymoon a couple of days after - some time around the 8th - 10 june). We were leaning towards a Med cruise due to the short flight time. We were hoping to cruise for a week and do a few days in one or more of the european cities both before and/or after the cruise. Is there much difference between the carribean and med cruises in terms of the quality of ships? Any tips etc would be well appreciated. Also any web-sites/travel agents in Dublin that could help us out would be great.

    Cheers,

    Jamie.

    Hi,
We did a Carribean cruise for our honeymoon. It was our first cruise so we weren't sure how long we'd enjoy it and only booked a 4 nighter on Royal Carribbean. It was fantastic - great weather, great ship, great value in the cities and sites that we visited. And the food! Be prepared to put on a t least a stone.
It was so good we went on an 9 night Alaskan cruise the following year.
I booked the cruise through cruisedirect.com. It's a very good site, great 24/7 support, very good email communication for updates etc. I was able to book my itinerary for our shore excursions and wine lists for our evening meals before we left.
All flights were booked via ebookers.
We flew into Miami and stayed just one night and then cruised out. After returning we flew to New York just to mix up the honeymoon a bit.
I've looked at the Med cruises since then; I've never been on one but they seem so expensive compared to Carribbean ones (obviously the flight prices will even this out). I'm sure that the quality is top notch on them though - try to find the newest ship you can and definitely pay the extra for a window room.

we have been on several carribean and two med cruises, quality of ships are the same, if you are using the standard cruise companies.. Both holidays are great, obviously for the white sandy beaches, great weather and blue blue sea then the carribean should be your choice. But saying that the two med cruises we went on had two great itineries also!!!! if you want the whole package ie flights, transfers and cruise then americanholidays.com is in dublin.
If you are braver and you will save lots of money then book cruise seperatly to the flight and transfer (airport to port), then we have used vacationstogo.com (an usa company) which get incredibly cheap cruise tickets for you. You can make cruising as cheap or expensive as you want regarding the excurtions, when we first started cruising we went on all of the ships excurtions which generally are expensive, but maybe on your first cruise thats what you should do. Now as 'seasoned' cruisers we do our own thing, research on the internet and either pre book private tours or know what to do when getting of the ship. another great site to look at is cruisecritic.co.uk. loads of cruising ideas, loads of tips for excurtions or money saving tips.. Have to give you a warning though, once you go on a cruise its very difficult to go on a normal holiday again.....
