Well, everyone has certain tips and tricks up their sleeves, so share the love!
We can all benefit and become even more gorgeous ;)

Give your tips and advice on anything ; Know a great way of applying foundation? Any tips on customising clothes? or even suggest a miracle multi-purpose product.

My first tip ; dip your eyeshadow brush into some vaseline before dipping it into the shadow ... it'll apply to the eyelid like a creme.
Tried this the other day and the finish was lovely - and it lasted all day without much creasing :)

Lipstick can double as a blusher. No idea if this is a thing only I do or if other people do it, but I can't be bothered buying thousands of different products, so I tend to use a few mainstays and use them in different ways.

Also would occasionally use a lipstick as an eyeshadow if I got really stuck and surprisingly got the most positive comments with it.

I'm probably weird but hey, whatever works.

Foundation tends to go on best when mixed with a light moisturiser or sunscreen (if it's a liquid or mousse foundation anyway) while in hand before applying to your face.. though I assume a lot of people do that?

As for clothes, all you really need for customization is a bit of creativity and maybe some ribbon and/or scissors as well as various random decorations and things, tends to be personal preference but I love using ribbons, simple black ones on bright coloured clothing can be a lot of fun.

Heard of this one, but never tried it!
I'm going to try it tomorrow - I have this pink Mac lipstick that would be perfect for giving my cheeks a rosy glow... :)

Tea-tree oil is amazing for spots - just dab some oil (Can get it in Boots, Superdrug etc) on the spot and it'll go down and disappear in no time.

for customizing clothes, i say change buttons it can change you clothes completely.
my granny used to take all the buttons off her clothes i still have them all,
when your gettin rid of stuff just take off the buttons.

Do your eye make up before your foundation so you don't end up with eye shadow on your cheeks! (I'm sure everyone knows this already but still! :))

If ya put bronzer like between your boobs, it makes 'em look bigger ;)

I'm always reading handy tips in magazines but none are springing to mind now, grrr typical! I'll prob be back later!

I actually watched that video last night from the make-up legend xsparkage..i don't need it but it's a well handy tip!! she has some other ones too but here's the link if you want to have bigger boobs:)

    http://www.xsparkage.com/?p=967

Not sure if it's a tip but I don't put foundation round my eyes, just save that area for the corrector and concealer...foundation makes it very cakey otherwise

I would LOVE to customise clothes but am afraid/not creatively minded to try anything, or even know what to try!!

Let me see.... tips that I have...........erm.........always carry perfume?!

Hair [mine anyway] can be much easier to straighten or style the day after you wash it?

rub your forehead and around your hairline with vaseline before you dye the gruaig..

clothes wise i guess ribbons and buttons add colour...bit of mesh here and there too

Spray hairspray on the heel of your tights before wearing them. Makes them last longer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,096 ✭✭✭LadyMayBelle

Ooh i love hairspray! for slippy shoes spray some hairspray on them and hey presto non slip..also heard the same if you rub sandpaper on the soles.. a beautican once told me to not avoid my lips when applying foundation.. lippy goes over the foundation...any experts on this?

When exfoliating your face, never exfoliate your cheeks as it tends to lead to broken veins

I'm convinced I have a fat face, so I use a highlighter and a shader to put cheekbones on! Just under your cheekbones put the shader and blend it in so you don't have a stripe, on your cheekbone dab a small bit of highlighter. This can be done with a lighter and darker blusher as well.

When you are doing gel/liquid liner across your eyelid first use a pencil liner to place dots along the lid line, then use your gel/liquid liner to join the dots up!

Run out of liquid liner? Blast your pencil with the hairdryer to melt it slightly.

Eyelash curlers can also be blasted with the hairdryer to heat them up a bit.

Oily roots but no time to wash your hair? Little bit of baby powder or dry shampoo will adsorb the oil.

Not an expert :) But yeah, foundation on your lips makes lipstick stay on longer :) I tend to avoid my lips though and then when I've finished putting on the foundation and there's no excess on the brush I just rub that over my lips so they aren't caked in foundation!

My favourite beauty tips and tricks are to: (some are real oldies but goldies)

==> paint my toenails, then cut them - avoids getting polish all over my toes!
==> brush my teeth with bread soda to whiten them
==> cold water rinse to make hair shiney
==> apply lots of blush!!! - seriously, why are so many women anti blush, it makes you look so much healthier!!!

oh buy sock glue you can get it from any dance store, used for irish dancing, but it holds up socks, dresses or anything!! its awful handy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 171 ✭✭BlackandGold

Actually going on that point of cold rinsing your hair, if you can give it a last rinse with rain water it makes your hair SO soft

Really? Do you think it would hold up a strapless dress - bought one and had it taken in but think the boobies have shrunken since then so need to figure out how to get the dress to stay up on me - all tips welcome!

Tell me more. I've never heard of this stuff and I'm sure Mrs Goat will be interested.

    There's a Mrs Goat? Oh no! :(

Use white eyeshadow on the inner corners of your eyes, this opens them right up and makes them look bigger (and more awake, if you've been out the night before! ;))

White eyeliner has the same effect on your inner eye. Using black eyeliner here actually has a minimising effect and makes your eyes look smaller.

Ya didn't really think that a catch & keeper like me would be left on the shelf did ya?:D

After cleaning and applying polish to your shoes buff them with an old stocking, or tights for those who don't do stockings, to achieve a very high shine.

If you have run out of body scrub, mix some sugar and baby oil together. Don't use it on your face and for gods sake be careful in the shower!! It's slippy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,195 ✭✭✭✭Michellenman

If you paint your nails just after you have a shower they last longer without chipping.

Run out of eyeliner? Use an old eyebrow brush to wipe some mascara from your wand and apply!

Use conditioner instead of shaving foam when shaving your legs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4 blanaidhennessy

Oh Mia, I do that, and it really does work. Gives the legs a great sheen...the best conditioner I've used so far shaving is the Tigi Dumb Blonde...

Great home made mask, mix spoon of honey with an egg. cleanses to the bone and softens too.

.. If I'm spending that much on conditioner I'm using it on my hair.

Back on topic, if you're starting to get a ladder in your tights put a coat of clear nail varnish over it to stop it.

Why not put it on my face?

I wash my face with sugar sometimes, then lash on some honey (towel on the pillow) sleep of the just, and when I wake up; hey presto lovely lookin' skin!

Olive oil and sugar as a scrub is also great! Particularly good on hands roughed up from the garden or something, my dad uses it all the time. :P

Do you just apply it and wash it off with water? I might give it a go.

I just find it's a bit rough on my face. Maybe other people don't find that. Do you use a certain type of honey? I should try that.

Coconut Oil is a WONDERFUL body (BUT NOT FACE) moisturiser and hair mask-mix with bit of rosemary oil or ur normal conditioner and leave over night then shampoo out using a non harsh shampoo.... and it smells DELISH! u can get tubs of it in healthfood stores....
its also good for removing eyemake up and you can mix it with bread soda for breathfreshening/teethwhitening effect..... just spit it down the toilet so if u use it a LOT it wont block the sink drain as it goes solid at room temp and melts at body temp!

I use baby oil for shaving, it stops my skin getting dry and irritated and leaves it lovely and soft.

Ah, of course, I use it for my hair, but you only need a really tiny bit for shaving as it's so slick. I buy my Tigi in TK Maxx too, huge bottles for far, far cheaper.

Can't believe I never though of that before! Going to try it tonight!

I use baby oil for shaving, its great. Only thing is it can clog up the razor a lil, so I just push it the opposite way to the blades on the palm of my hand and run it under the water

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 435 ✭✭pinkheels88

Two which sound pretty gross, but work brill :)

Vaseline (smear a bit on your teeth for a glossy shine) - apparantely Catherine Zeta Jones does this.
Talcon powder to camoflauge greasy roots

Great idea, must give it a go.

Got to ask, is there anything on the market that can be left in the wardrobe so when you open it you get a nice smell. Im a little embarrassed to admit but when i open my wardrobe i sometimes get a stale aroma , dunno what it is as i generally keep clothes very clean. :(

Just make up a little bag of lavender. Theres loads of things like that you can buy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 119 ✭✭mazken

On the topic of vaseline, if you run out of eye makeup remover rub a bit on your eyelids and use cotton pad to wipe off - works a treat and also leaves skin around eyelids feeling silky smooth

I use conditioner for shaving my legs too, leaves them super smooth even if your using a crappy razor! :D

if you have dry cracked feet or hands then put on loadsss of moisturiser and wear socks or gloves to bed, the next morning they'l be super smooth!

Live natural yogurt on problem skin drys it right up!

leaving loads of conditioner on your damp hair in a towel over night can work great as a conditioning treatment.

il come back when I think of more! :P

I love the little tins of red Vaseline! Only 2 euro and one of the nicest lip tints!

Red L'Oreal Elvive Shampoo and Conditioner, great shampoo for coloured hair and only about €4 a bottle! (L'Oreal make Kerastace so some of the ingredients overlap!)

Put cling film and a warm towel over conditioner in your hair and leave for a few hours! Mimics the treatments that are done in salons and will leave your hair really soft, promise!
