Myself and my gf are looking to head away for 3 weeks in mid july. We're both in our mid 20's and have done the whole Santa Ponsa thing so we're looking for somewhere "different" where we there is a lot to do, scenary, culture etc and good night life too ( but not like ibiza!). Ideally we'd like to visit a few places rather than stay in the same spot for three weeks.
I was thinking somewhere like Cuba where we could combine Havanna, tours of countryside for half of trip and Varadero for other half but I've been advised weather in Cuba is not ideal at this time. Was also thinking of combining other Carribean Islands like Antigua and Barbados.
What about any places in Europe like combining Croatia and Italy possibly.
    Would croatia be worth touring?
    Budget is about 2000 each.
I'd appreciate any feedback at all. Thanks!

Fantastic. Im glad to hear the appeal of taking package holidays with the rest of the country has worn off.

It happened to me around 4 years ago and you will be the better for it, trust me.

2k squid each. Brilliant. We just did 3 weeks in Australia and Thailand for €4080 so if you can squeeze another €40 each then you are laughing.

Try places like Phuket, Phi Phi, Koh Samui, Australia(Perth, Sydney) and even Malaysia. Flights to Malaysia are very reasonable right now as Malaysian airlines are doing great deals.

Return flights to Perth are now from €860 with Singapore Airlines(Amazing Airline).

Imagine flying to all the way to Australia for the city/sun holiday and then lying on the beach on an Island in Thailand and drinking beer for around €00.80c each.

Hotels are cheap in Thailand, food is cheap, drink is cheap, clothes are CHEAP.

If you dont want to travel too far you could go to Lisbon. The beach resorts of Estoril and Cascais are only €3 by train or €20 by taxi from Lisbon city centre. Lots of culture, tourist stuff in Lisbon and nearby e.g. Sintra. Great night life there too with the Barrio Alto. Cascais is a beautiful seaside town. Nice restaurents (2 Michelin star) Good club there too (Coconuts) I stayed in Farol Design Hotel. Estoril has the Casino and F1 track. Very easy to get around. People are very nice. Great surfing beaches nearby with rentals +/- lessons available

You could do it in fine style with €2000

I'd avoid Cuba and the surrounding areas, it's hot and humid and the ever present chance of a hurricane ruining your holidays is a possibility.

Have a look at the Maldives, at that time of year there is a chance you
may have some heavy tropical showers for a couple of half-days but it
    wouldn't ruin your holidays

If you want to stick with Europe, you could fly into the north of Italy and
travel across and down the Dalmatian coast. Croatia is ideal for touring
around and hopping from one hotel/town to another.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Weather would be spring/winter in South Africa then so not the best time to go. Prob going to do Oz and thailand and all that at another time for a longer stint. Anymore advice on interesting places would be well appreciated. Doesn't have to be other side of world either. Thanks

Croatia is definitely an option, maybe in conjunction with Italy, Solvenia or Montenegro. It's a beautiful country and there is plenty to do in Dubrovnik and the other cities and loads of islands to visit all the way up along the coast.

North of Spain, Santander, San Sebastian and Pamploma might also be an option.

i went to croatia last may and was really really impressed. you could easily spend 2/3 weeks travelling around . fly into dubrovnik and spend 4-5 days around the city. lots of cool bars and clubs and lots of backpackers. its a really young trendy but small city and the old town is stunning with lots of winding narrow streets with cool restaruants/shops and bars. we got our accomodation when we got there for 60euro a room inside the old town walls. we hired a small car from dubrovnik for 100euro for the week. we went to hvar island by driving along the coast and getting the ferry crossing to havar ( which took 12 mins and cost about 15euro.) we also went by ferry to kortula island. both of these were breathtaking . accomodation was only 40euro a night for a couple. hvar especially i was blown away by. the town of hvar which is also the port if beautiful with a big italian type square with lots of out- door bars around it. there are lots of cruise ships and yaughts and even motor boats you can rent (no experience necessary)for 40euro a day to go to another island. even from dubrovnik if you dont want to do any of the islands you can go on a trip to mostar bosnia which is only 120km from dubrovnik. also montenegro is only an hour by car or so and both places have lots of day trips. alternativly there are lots of ferry links from the east coast of italy to croatia so you could fly into itay and out of croatia. all in all you would be hard pressed to find a better holiday....maby except island hopping in greece.
