As the title says, I've found an old Vivitar 2800 flash which I got years ago and just wondering if this will work with my Canon Eos 450D?

Btw are there any links on the web about using flash?

    Cheers

Don't try it! The 2800 has a high trigger voltage and it could fry your nice shiny 450D.

Try http://strobist.blogspot.com/ for flash advice. There are countless others I'm sure. Google is your friend.

    Regards,

    John

Hi BillieBob, DO NOT USE THAT FLASH ON YOUR CAMERA, OR CONNECTED BY A CABLE!
    Ok?

You can still find a use for it though.
If you use it, combined with an optical trigger, then you'll be fine, as there is no transfer of trigger voltage. Have a look here, when checking out old flash units :

As already suggested, check out the strobist blog, or have a look at the info from Zack Arias at http://www.onelightworkshop.com/index.html - BTW his DVD is "Awesome Man"!

Aren't you glad you asked first, eh? ;)
