Just considering the threads lately and a few conversations I have had.

We have a huge problem with Obese children and adults in this country (and the rest of the developed world).

Problem two, the climate change / energy crisis.

Problem three, economic depression and the need to reduce our dependence on imports.

I plan to solve all these problems with one simple solution. BUT I need your help on how to put the plan into action.

Brainwave: Put children and Adults on Treadmills and bikes to generate power.
Cheap, generates income, and prevents obesity. The health service wins in about 20 years (by then it should be working fine).

So is it feasible and will I get elected on a single issue ticket???

Great idea, now the Cork mind will take a good idea and make it better. :D

We might have to import treadmills but then we can sell electricity instead of importing it. Gym's go green! will be the slogan.

My spin off is that schools, instead of being in a grades league table, will get capital based on power generation. I know the primary schools will suffer but not as much as under the present conditions.

That's a brilliant idea. I have my treadmill so maybe I could just hook some power cables up to it ....

Instead of hooking your treadmill up yourself, one of the newly employed technicians will be by to hook you straight into the national grid. No batteries needed. No need to store the power on site. Less cables etc

You will get a levy rebate for the amount of power you generate.

Someone must have more ideas on how I expand my business/ political model. I mean if this works we might expand the borders of the Peoples Republic of Cork to include the rest of you. :-)

Interesting, or we could erect a wall around the whole county of Cork to contain the red ego :D The wall construction would lead to additional jobs for the builders

You're just trying to stop Kerry from humiliating you every single year at football.

Ah sure isn't Hurling the only pure sport. :D

As for that wall, it would be handy to keep the riff raff out. :D

On topic- I had another thought, generators in the Swiss balls. All the movement they do. When people lose grip and they run amok in the gym. Think of all that free energy. (Or if they had an inner compartment and you could toss your salad while working out)

Fair enough, a different approach then?

    RunningMan1980 banned for a week.

I'll put this in the PM as well but for public clarity you are being banned specifically for back seat moderating, which is against site wide rules as detailed in the FAQ. You opened a thread specifically about this questioning the moderation in here and - after that was locked - you returned in here to continue, in a clearly provactive manner. This type of behaviour is destructive and disruptive and - for the good of the community as a whole - it will not be tolerated.

Seems a tad harsh to ban someone for posting anything in this nonsense off-topic thread - I guess there must be some background as I've not been following things lately but the other posts by him today seem fairly genuine.

On the original point don't treadmills require power, not generate it. Cyclic trainers, bikes yeah I can see, but treadmills.. I remember tomorrows world when I was a kid showing some bloke watching TV while generating the the power from a bike. I reckon if I could tap into the power from the wii remote I could cook the dinner on my young lad's exertions.

The link above shows it can be done. As for the Wii, definitely, my son is the same, I could power half the city. But I can't get near the Wii to see if it has anything I could tap into. :-)
