    Hi guys,

I recently made a huge mistake (1 night stand, didn't use protection). I'm now incredibly paranoid and going to go get checked up. I was just wondering if the screening in James's Street hospital covers everything? i.e. HIV etc.? Never been before so any help much appreciated. Also any idea how long it takes?

    Thanks

they do a walk in clinic and are based in James Hospital.

As far as i know you get the basic STI results in a week or two, but a HIV test takes a little bit longer.

Wish you all the best with it!

STI tests take about 2 weeks for the results, there pretty similar to a smear test, uncomfortable!

a HIV test takes 6 months for the results, something to do with the virus developing or something???

Have you shown any symptoms of any STI's???

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm a guy, and yes, I've noticed some red spots on the head of my penis so it's freaking me out big time.

Okay.... I'm in the same position as you. Had a night with a friend of mine.

First off - last time I had red spots after unprotected sex with a friend, the doc said it was not an STI (had all the tests too) but possibly thrush - so, don't freak out. It may well be nothing. I actually had a bacterial infection which was cleared up by some pills.

Now, the quickest way would be to pay and go to Dr. Friedman in Ranelagh - check the sticky above for the details.

I know how it feels though - you think you've got every disease under the sun.

Thanks for the reply, yeah it's a pretty horrible feeling. The reason I was looking at going to James'.St is because I've just finished exams and am absolutely smashed. I might just go to that Doctor in Ranelagh tomorrow though for the peace of mind. Thanks again
