As part of the 125th anniversary celebrations, Leinster GAA are looking to pick football and hurling teams featuring the best players of the last 25 years from the Leinster counties. You have to pick from a shortlist of 4 players for each position, some seriously tough choices in there:

The decisions I found hardest (my choices in bold) were:

    Hurling

Pat Dwyer v Kevin Kinahan v Noel Hickey
    Martin Hanamy v Willie O'Connor
Cha Fitzpatrick v Derek Lyng v Johnny Pilkington
John Power v Henry Shefflin v John Troy
    Eoin Larkin v Tommy Walsh
    Eddie Brennan v Charlie Carter
Tom Dempsey* v Eamon Morrissey v Liam Fennelly (though Fennelly was before my time)

    Football

    Darren Fay v Mick Lyons
    Martin O'Connell v Anthony Rainbow
Both midfield positions (I chose Whelan and McDermott)
Tommy Dowd v Trevor Giles v Dessie Farrell
Ollie Murphy v Charlie Redmond v Colm O'Rourke

    *I think!

    Football

Paddy Christie v Darren Fay v Gerry Hargan.
Hargan was brilliant not the biggest but what hands and his distribution was good.
    Spike Fagan v Graeme Geraghty
    Mid-field
    Brian Stynes and Seamus O'Hanlon

    Trevor Giles
    Colm O'Rourke
    Kevin O'Brien
    Dessie Farrell
    Ger Heavin
    Larry Giles

Will have a look at Leinster G.A.A in few minutes but it looks like it a meaningless thing just like the All-Stars where players from weaker counties dont get picked

Its a good idea but will they pick the lads with medals or will they pick the best players. These type of selections can be often be seen as just another award for lads who are on succesful teams and dont give due recognition to players from weaker counties.

While I dont like to see lads moving around it would have been great to see Kevin O'Brian Johnny Nevin or Larry Giles play with a top team. They were class players. Same goes for Brian McMahon the Dublin hurler. Ronan Fallon would be not lost playing on that team either.
