My 74 VW 1303 is painted silver and I don’t know if it’s the original colour or not. It's certainly not the original paint...

I bought it last September but over the Winter, it came out with acne. No major bubbling or anything just a general coating of tiny sand grain sized speckles, particularly on the roof. You can feel it more than see it. It’s like a coating of that speckley crapola that you get from parking under trees at times. Is this a sign of a poor job or could it maybe be the kind of thing that could flatted and re-lacquered maybe???? I know it needs a respray at some stage but I want to put it off given things as they are...

are you sure its not actually some fallout, i.e something has landed on the paint ?

I would get a clay bar and try it first to see if its purely contamination before worrying too much.
