I did a seach but didn't seem to come with anything recent. Are people still having grief with speeds on Digiweb? Specifically with pings to gaming servers. Are they still strangling P2P too?

Am thinking about getting their DSL xtra package...

    Monthly Price €39.95
    Download Speed* 7.6Mb
    Upload Speed* 672k
    Traffic Allowance 40GB
    Contention Ratio 24:1
    4 Port Wireless Router Free
Activation Fee €49.95 or FREE with annual payment

I find it fine, the only issue I have is the cap.

3 Different laptops in the house and a Xbox so regularly hit the cap.

    Digiweb never strangled p2p

DSL pings depend on eircom technology.

Metro pings (depending on mast) can be better. Metro works out cheaper too, if you ditch the phone line.

Watty, are there any plans to increase the DL cap?

Please! 20 GB should be the miniumum in 2009

Well metro can be a bit hit and miss. I have cancelled with them over some "adjustment" that was made in the Limerick area which resulted in my connection no longer syncing. Its been down over a month. Two aerial replacements and a down converter had no effect.

Cheers for the info. Still not sure. Eircom give a 50GB limit and first month free, so work out cheaper overall. They're a bit sketchy on details and I hate the idea of giving those bastards more money than I have to....

Was reading an old thread were several people said it was, and one person said the digiweb customer service person even admitted to it.

I wouldn't know as I have no connection other than as a customer.

Yes, the "adjustments" in Limerick totally messed me up too, jumpy. Changing / radios/modems /cables etc won't fix it.

If you go over cap due to p2p or ANY other reason, then everything is throttled to under 100k till you are < 80% of cap. I still don't beleive p2p was targeted.

Digiweb don't shape/throttle/meddle with any traffic, p2p or other.

    Grrrr :mad::mad::mad:

Just got a letter from a debt collection agency acting on behalf of digiweb. Let me print an email I had sent them.....
    Hi there,
I need to cancel my account WIRxxxxxx as I am moving out of the
country. The residence has no new tenants as yet so I am unsure about
    the future requirements.

    The account details are:

    Acc No: xxxxxxx

    Full name
    and address

Please bear in mind that I only have a roaming phone here in Holland
so please try to communicate VIA email.
If you do need to contact me my mobile is 087xxxxxxx

I have canceled the direct debit for digiweb. Please terminate the
account once the prepaid amount has been used.

Many thanks for the great service.
    xxxxxxxx

I got a nice email back saying that was fine etc etc. All was good.

Next thing I know is that the landlord rings me about a debt collection letter.

I rang digiweb and got the bla bla about it being automated system... so beware anyone else.

Such a pity because I had great service from them for so long but the last thing I want is my name appearing in some credit agency as an unreliable.

I'm on this package in the D11 area. Very happy with it, its very reliable, consistant performance throughout the day.
Pings for online games like CSS aren't great compared to other Irish ppl I know on different providers, I get 60-80ping to EU servers, others are 30-50, still playable though.
I really wish the download cap was bigger than 40GB per month though.
