    Hi,
Does anyone know what the story is when you can't go on your booked flights. Is there any way of getting a refund?
Seems very expensive to change the dates..

It depends on the tickets you bought usually. If you purchased the cheapest then no, there is no way of getting a refund.

Cheap or dear - with Ryanair, no ticket is refundable (as the point out during booking). You can apply for taxes and charges back, but the admin fee barely makes it worth while.

I had AerLingus tickets bought for my parents about 2 months ago, for Amsterdam. The dates eventually didn't suit them, so I rang and cancelled. The fare is non-refundable, but I got the tax back, which worked out at €100 from the original cost of €200.

Hard luck. It's not worth the hassle of trying to get the airport taxes back off ryanair, the fees for doing it don't make it worthwhile.

    Hang on.

It matters quite a lot to get your tax's and charges refunded.

If you dont you get nothing and you may feel that you might only get €14 back because of the charges imposed by Ryanair to even ask for them back.

HOWEVER, If you do not ask for your refund then Ryanair get to ask the government for your tax's and charges back anyway because they maintain they cannot sell the seat.

So Ryanair get your fare + the refund of the tax's and charges from the governement to line their pockets.

If Ryanair cancelled your flight, you are entitled to a refund.

Urranger, don't confuse the matter. The OP clearly stated that they can't go, not that Ryanair cancelled.
