What should I have?

I've just bought a PS3 and am loving it. I got Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, F1CE and DiRT.

Gran Turismo is a terrific teaser, F1 CE has the most dazzling graphics I've ever seen on a racer and DiRT has the most confusing menu system

As you can see, I love sports games, especially motor racing.

Question is how much can this machine do and what are the essential items (games/accessories) I should not be without?

    Thanks!

I see you are a huge racing fan.

Motorstorm would be best for you then, seeing as you have Dirt
    Try Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box

I thought they were really well done, nicely stylised.

As for more racing games, like giggsy mentioned, Burnout Paradise. Lots of fun online. Maybe not for GT/F1 realism fans, but great for speed and crashing :D

    Cool, will check those out.

Also, I'm not a huge fan of the likes of Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid etc. mainly because I am sh1t at them.

Could you recommend me one that will draw me in and impress, without being in anyway difficult!!!

One more thing - is GTA4 worth buying?

It's such a cool machine. Haven't been so excited about a console since getting my PS2 back in 2002....SEVEN years ago!!!!

GTAIV feels like a step backwards from the later Ps2 games but it's still a good game if a but soulless. I think the DLC episode Lost and the Damned is eventually making it to PSN and it's a much better game than the original since it's sillier and more humourous.

To be honest I much prefer Saints Row 2. It's stupider and juvenile but it knows it is and it's just a whole lot more fun than GTAIV.

Also I highly recommend Wipeout HD from PSN.

    Bit harsh, no?

I found the missions were a bit repetitive and unimaginative compared to the slightly better San Andreas, however GTA4 is by far the most polished of the series. The combat is better, the city is better and there is a lot of fun in the side missions and online.

The single player is a bit long, best play it in between other games to avoid becoming jaded with it.

Burnout is definitely a lot of fun, +1 to that.

As a need for speed fan, you can also try need for speed undercover. Havent tried it though ^^

I would certainly choose Saints Row 2 over GTAIV. Co-Op with your own custom character is great fun. I do miss the Cops & Robbers mode from GTAIV online, though, but not my virtual phone ringing every 5 minutes with needy friends weeping down the phone because I'm always being busy.

I get that enough with my real phone.

Wipeout HD is as good a racer as you will get. Iv had it 3 months and iv been mostly concentrating on one track.....great game better then most 60 quid games and it looks so damn purty.

I'm like you, sh1t at CoD and the like, but I have to say Killzone2 is brilliant. Great gameplay, great story, and for me multiplayer was great, because you start off with people of equal ability, and don't feel like you're getting slaughtered every game. Gets tougher then when you rank up, but not too bad until later on. Top marks from me anyway.

Agreed. GTA IV lost what is so great about sandbox games and that is pure freedom to do whatever you want. They took a step away from the craziness of San Andreas and made it more realistic. I got bored fast with it and have yet to complete it. Not enough to do and not enough freedom to do it.

For freedom try Saints Row 2, also I found Mercenaries 2 fantastic, who doesn't enjoy completely destroying city blocks with tactical nukes :D

+1 Wipeout HD is a must have PSN title. Like Street Fighter it is easy to play, hard to master. Online competition can be pretty tough also.

Undercover would be way down on my list of driving games to try, suffers badly from frame rate issues on the PS3 also.

For race games that I've played I'd recommend:

    Race Driver: GRiD
    Burnout Paradise
Flatout: Ultimate Carnage woops, didn't realise it was a 360 exclusive :o
    Motorstorm

also... try PURE... I know it's an ATV racer, but it's serious fun. Here's a video I compiled of some stunts I recorded in game. The soundtrack for it is also excellent (song in the video is from the game)

Any collection should include Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, imo. It's not a racing game but well worth playing.

    I enjoyed Motorstorm as well.

infamous is out next friday and is being well received. there is a demo on psn

I'm downloading the demo atm. 1239 MB.
