Cult alloys

Just spotted a Mondeo this weekend with what appeared to be a mint set of TSW Venoms on it.

Knew what they were as soon as I saw them. Got me thinking what alloys are instantly recognisable and what ones receive and deserve cult status

    So a few contenders are

    Venoms

    Superlites

    superlites.jpg

    Tsw Hockenheim

    Care to add some more?

Damn I was just abut to upload the Fuchs wheel.

The Alfa ones reminded me of the old mk3 escort wheels with the 4 round circle in them.

Had the TSW Stealths & BBS RCs on past cars, what about the Momo Arrow, had them on an e34 5 series, they looked the bomb! (Back when 17' wheels were big.

    Momo_Arrow_5.jpg

I can't believe that no one has mentioned Alley Cats! You were no one on the '80s with out them! (Just missed driving in the '80s myself so can't claim to have owned a set. I know guys who put them on vans, Twin Cams, Minis....

There was a beautiful custom original (real) VW Beetle (metallic green) with these wheels on. The car won the top prize at Bug Jam Show ten years ago.

Yeh, I remember it. Think they were Williams brothers from Limerick or thereabouts. De-seamed, de-guttered, solenoid door locks and with a digital dash. Saw it at Leopardstown one year and was featured in Volksworld as well.

Any customised beetle worth its salt has a set of empi's or fuchs wheels. Real classics.

Agreed!!! But you see the BRMs more on the campers? I think they have a fuchs lookalike though?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭rebel.ranter

That's the guys alright. Saw it when it just literally beem finished, at Two Mile Inn VW meet. Have the Volksworld article in the attic. Met guy who bought it from Williams bros a few years later, car was still perfect. If it is still going that VW meet should be on somewhere in Lumerick next weekend.
Had a Beetle with Wellers which I swiftly changed to the EMPI 8s, always wanted a pre '67 5 stud to have a set of BRMs on.

Fond memories indeed. I settled for Riviera's on mine at the time, although needed spacers to clear the disc brake conversion kit. Pitty Machine 7 were not around in those days.

and then of course there was also cookie cutters

I have 15" BBS crossspokes on my BMW E30. Classics for this shape 3-series imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭rebel.ranter

Hi Brian, you linked to a file on your desktop. Had an e30 with TSW stealths, going to get another e30 as soon as I figure out where I can put it!
BBS are the only wheel for them now that I'm a bit wiser.
