Hi, no so much looking for advice here as someone who has been in the same situation. I have an amount of work to do for this Friday. I know it seems ages away but doing my H Dip and have plans etc to write out and organise. My problem is i just cannot get down to work. Any disruption at all and i leave my work and do something else. There will probably be a few all nighters this week. Anyone have any tips on how to just get down to it? I have literally tried everything at this stage and im getting distracted so easily. I know it seems quite sad posting on here but i am beginning to drive myself mad because i know how much i have to do but because there is so much i keep avoiding it. Any tips/advice/help at all would be greatly appreciated.

it sounds like you need to blow off some ious steam tonight - sooner rather than later. Game of something energetic, action & comedy DVD fest, go for a run? Whatever you know works. tGet it out of your system tonight but easy on the beers, etc. You won't have time for a hangover, tomorrow. Anything except work tonight. Then get a good night's sleep (maybe peep back here for some good suggestions before the shut-eye).

You'd be amazed at how that'll help you focus and knuckle down for the week ahead.

    Collapse Sat. Then celebrate.

    Best of Luck, anyhoo.

get some exercise,,,go for a walk you'll feel much more energetic afterwards7

write a list of what you ve to do, make first few tasks short, do them and tick them off, you will begin to get feeling of accomplishment and hopefully a sense of purpose, just try stick with it, its only a few days...

Ah, procrastination. Why do we do it to ourselves??

Think of it this way - all this stressing, frantic worrying, is actually ten times worse than the workload itself. Once you get stuck in, time plods away and before you know it you're in the zone and wishing you had started earlier instead of putting it off.

Some things that help - write out a check list of everything you need to get done. I even do this with laundry and stuff...call me a sad b%$$# but it's actually quite satisfying checking all the boxes, and maybe once you have it done, you can reward yourself with your favourite tv show or a browse on boards or something!!

Exercise is good too, but all the better if you can actually manage to switch off during it so that when you come back to your desk it's a clean slate, and you won't be resenting it because you actually got away from it for a bit.

    Best of luck!

Yup, get some exercise, a shower, something to eat and then break the work into bite-sized chunks by making out a 'to do' list. Deal with each task as a separate entity and when it's done, tick it off your list.

Start with something simple enough that won't take a lot of time, then move to something else easy enough and tick them off the list. It's amazing how great it feels to get stuff done :) That should be your motivation to continue :)
