    HI there.

There are heaps of players in Dublin. Mostly we play in Models Inc in Dorset Street. [Top of O Connell St + turn right]

They have a website www.modelsinc.ie or you can ring Martin 087-9299392 for more details.

Have you played in tournaments before?

There's a good mix of players there who play casually as well. Fridays is Friday night magic - where there will be a good bit of activity.

They play sealed deck on Fridays - you get 6 boosters and build a deck of 40 cards to play with for the night.

But you can just go on a Friday and play with your own deck against the guys who aren't playing sealed. There will always be a few players not playing in the tournament. There's a nice buch of guys.

1 Question - the decks that you play with are they standard legal? This means at the moment only using cards fom the following sets

    Lorwyn
    Shadowmoor
    Morningtide
    Eventide
    10th Edition
    Shards of Alara
    Conflux
    Alara Reborn

Or have you made decks using cards from other sets? Just curious.

No my decks are a mix off old and new sets.
To tell the truth iv never heard off the standard legal thing.
Does that just mean that you are meant to play with only recent sets?
Iv never played FNM or any ting like that iv just been play with a few friends for the past few years.

No you don't have to. Playing standard is just one way to build a deck, but there are many others. At the moment many people will want to play standard because it is our national championships in July and everyone will want to practice for it.

So if you had a standard deck you will definetly get many games against different people.

Standard is always the most recent 2 blocks and the most recent core set [at the moment 10th edition]. This rotates every September when a new large set comes out.

So this September Standard will be the following

    Shards of Alara
    Conflux
    Alara Reborn
M10 [Which is the new core set , also known as magic 2010 or 11th edition]
Zendinkar [which is new large set due out in September]

The magic scene in Ireland is quite small, but when I started going to places like Models Inc where people played magic 10 years ago I learned so much about the game and met many new friends. You should defiently come along and play a few games.

Also as a bonus we have special pre-release in Models Inc in a few weeks when the new M10 set is released. You get to play with brand new cards on the day before they even go on sale in the shops. Pre-release events are all about having fun and even though technically they are a competition - they are very relaxed events with nobody really taking them seriously. I have played magic all around Europe and by far the best fun I have ever had playing magic is pre-releases.
