People have been forced to accept the USA as the best economic system more than they should because of it's size and pre-eminence. It's internal market is perhaps a factor. If China becomes a superpower will that lend more communist economics credibility, or will it not change the accepted wisdom of economists?

lets get a few things straight

    * China is not communist, they are more capitalist than us, except they have few guys (a cartel called the party) in control (heh like FF and their developer budies), on local level its fairly democratic with elections for local councils

    * the balance of power already shifted from west to east

    * communist economics? wtf, once again they are mercantilist capitalists, there's nothing communistic about china anymore, except a name

it seems people here in Ireland like the OP haven't woken up yet and smelled the noodles

I agree and if you think its communism that runs china just ask any buyer of the power of the euro! China is communist but it trades in capitalism

Give it a few more years and the Chinese will have bought the entire planet and still have a huge wad left over. God help us all.

The world would get over it and adjust accordingly...just like we did after the Roman and British empires... not that I personally see America going down that easy..Its a bit more complex now.
