Well guys I'm travelling from SNN to BOS in June and then back from Houston to New York and from New York (JFK) to DUB.

All of this is with Aer Lingus (JetBlue doing the Houston to JFK flight like).

I know you are allowed 2 checked-in bags but I more than kiley will only check in one bag on the way over there and check-in two on the way home.

Should this be ok , and ok with JetBlue too???

I know this is one of those small kinda things that gets thrown up here a lot but any info would be great.

Yes, it should be fine once they are in the specified weight limits :)

The only way to be sure about questions like these is to either call the airline or check on their website. If anyone here tells you "you'll be grand" and you find out on the day that you're not grand....you get my drift.

Aer lingus will allow you take 2 bags with a max combined weight of 36Kg (each seperate bag having a max weight of 32kg each). You can go over with no bag and come bag with 2, that doesnt matter.

From checking the jetblue site, you can only bring one 22kg bag. An extra bag (also less than 22kg) will be $20 extra, which isnt too bad. The page i've linked to also explains everything regarding oversize and overweight bags too.

The rules you've linked to are for JetBlue flights only. However, when booking with more than one airline on the one ticket you generally get the larger baggage allowance allowed. Same as travelling Dublin - London - Destination X on the one ticket. You would get the allowance given to you by the long-haul airline, rather than the allowance given to you on Dublin - London. Unless Aer Lingus/JetBlue are doing something vastly different to standard convention, that is - and AFAIK they're not.
