Hi. I drive a volvo 1.8 F ( petrol) . I do about 21/22000 miles a year. I just find that i spend so much time filling the car up and wel economy aint the best.

Based on changing to a 1.9 diesel has anyone any idea how much i could save over a year on fuel.

I guess im wondering is it worth trading up ...

    Any help would be appreciated:D:D

I drive a BMW E30 318is which isn't bad on petrol at all (37-38 mpg on average) and I worked out that a diesel would need to do 45mpg to match the running costs. This was about 8 months ago when diesel cost about 10 cents per litre more than petrol. I must recalculate that now since the price difference has been reversed

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

With 22k miles and 28MPG for the petrol and 43MPG for the diesel and petrol and diesel prices at €1.10 and €1.00 respectively, you'll save €1,600 per year in fuel. That's little money.

To trade up to a diesel will cost you big money ;)
