Slight click from chain/BB after wet, dirty weather

Slight click from chain/BB after the wet, dirty weather. Bike is new, so first gremlins. I tried to clean with that 'muck-off' stuff from Halfords and then lubricate. The lube is in a spray can though - no precision, will be getting a more old-fashioned can-dispenser tomorrow:mad:

Anyway - anything notable I can check/change? The click seems most apparant when chain is on biggest front cog...

If your lube sprays on its the wrong lube;)

what gear are you in at the back? could be just cable stretch.

Slight chain rub off the front derailleur maybe? If it was coming some the BB you should be hearing it no matter which ring you're in up front.

Are you lubing the chain only or other parts on the bike with that spray lube?

gear cable rubbing on the chain, cranks or even spokes are also sneaky culprits.

Lube is green stuff like from a soap dispenser. Assume the lube itself is OK, I just realise in practice that spray can is a stupid way of dispensing. In my younger days I used 3-in-1 oil which I'm told is a little heavy/thick for cycles. It does leave a messy residude.

Shifts are smooth enough so far (only 130ish miles on bike tho). I'll maybe try conservatively adjusting the barrel (counter-clock-wise?). I don't want to become a bike mechanic but would would like to learn the little maintainance skills to keep my bike running as smoothly as possible.

I had that lube, it's really terrible, most of it ends up on the ground.

I would have thought it is just the lube being stripped off in the wet weather.

Junk the lube and invest in a good brand, it's worth it.
