I'm from the midlands area. Where should I go? Do I need to contact my GP? It's just that it would probably take too long if done through my GP. I need the results ASAP, i.e. within the next week.

    i'm confused?

why do you need them so quickly of a doctor isn't already involved?

It's not interesting or important, Mystik Monkey.

I've googled the Beacon Clinic in Dublin - they probably could do it. But that's a long boring train and Luas journey, I was hoping I could get it done closer to home. *Moan grumble*

If you want an FBC done privately, contact your local private facility. If you want results quickly, you can:

    a) Go to your GP, get a blood request form and attend your local hospital and have the blood taken. It takes less than an hour to process an FBC.

    b) If your GP will take the blood for you, deliver the blood sample yourself to your local hospital and ask the results to be forwarded ASAP to your GP.

Important to bear in mind that private healthcare doesn't mean quicker or faster service neccessarily.

My GP has done this for me, quickly and relatively cheaply. The curse of certain medications: regular blood tests.

GP takes blood in the morning. Courier takes blood to the lab. Lab will have FBC done by that afternoon, or the next day at the latest.

You can get the results by:
    (a) Asking your GP to phone for them
    (b) If your GP uses HealthLinks s/he will get them online as soon as they are ready. Often the same day it was taken.
