Waht's the best way to do this?

I was thinking of doing one of those Youtube 10 minute Mix jobbies, although I might just do a 9 minute Mix just to be a little different.

    Any suggestions?

Jaysus Sean! Talk about stating the obvious!

I know it'll involve a camera, but would a web cam be an option? Or what do other people use?

ha ha ha i meant a digital camera, like the ones used to take digital photos.
as long as you have enough memory on the card you should be able to record 10 minutes(most cameras can record video too)
id imagine a web cam would work alright

OK, maybe I wasn't clear enough.

I don't have a digital camera (well I do but it's broken), what I do have is a decent enough camera phone with plenty of memory but if I record with that the sound is ****. I noticed that Zas mentioned in another thread that he was using a webcam to do something similar. I was just looking for tips and such as to the best way of dragging myself into the 21st Century.

yeah i guess a web cam would be good.then just record the audio as you normally would.then sync it up i guess.
im not too sure how to go about it really but im sure someone will know how to

Howdy Bazmo, use the webcam but take a line from the record output on your mixer to the line in jack on your computer. If you get it up and working you should log on to the Kitchen sync and do a mix. A few of us use the webcam during our shows.
If you register with Ustream and use it to save your recording you also get an option to upload it automatically to your You tube account.

Actually, I'll do a 10 min mix in about an hour so if you want you can log in to the Kitchen sync and I'l talk you through what I'm doin there if thats any help

Cheers Dar. That's exactly what I was looking for. Bleedin Seannash not having a clue what he's talking about! :D

I don't have a webcam so I'll have to either scrounge one off someone or pick one up online. Any suggestions?

I had 'realplayer' downloaded to my old laptop and you could download vids from youtube using realyplayer, haven't got it anymore though, but pretty confident that this would work!:D

I bought a webcam in Dixons for €20 - Logitech e3500 I think - does the job perfectly!

Just make sure you have a line out into the PC and the webcam is picking up that sound cause the microphone sound quality is pants.

It's very easy you record it and can upload directly to youtube with one clikc - also saves it as a .mpg

Reminds me I must get around do doing one this weekend!

Most Logitec webcams have a decent mic which isn't very directional, but personally I'm gonna use my camcorder. If you hook it up via a firewire then it acts just like a webcam, except much better quality. Soundwise, the above suggestion of a line out into your sound card is the best idea. I was hoping to put up a "first time" vid tonight, but I have the problem of not having an amp...

On that, my order [20kg] from Thomann was shipped via DHL Road Express (When their sites says parcels under 31.5kg are shipped via UPS Express). It entered transit at one on tuesday, and is still in London. If they had used UPS there's a very good chance I'd be mixing and not typing right now. Is this common with thomann or was I just unlucky?

Yeah the "line in" thing was the part I was curious about, but I have a line in on the sound card that my mixer is connected to so that bit is sorted.

Might check out Dixons tomorrow so.

Thanks lads......well except the lads from Louth, they were useless! Ha ;)
