driving offence

hi anybody know what will happen to my friend she was baned from driving for two years and last week she was caught driving whilst banned .today she got six summons to court they were / no ins / no licence/no nct / not display nct/no tax and finally not display tax disk anybody know how long she will be banned for now ,and what fines to expect she is not workin and has no money she is kicking herself and she knows she was wrong to drive .:(

She needs to talk with the Officer in the case, its high on the statute of limitations, ie serious motoring offence, driving whilst banned.

Also depends on the Judge she gets when she goes to court...

I would say she could get 5 yrs ban going by the info you supplied above

thanks she is not to worry,d about being banned its just the fines she is worried about could they fine her as well as a ban or is it either fine or ban ???

thanks for that info, has anyone been in this position recently that could give her some advice on what happend them or what to expect she has no money to pay a fine and 2 young kids to support she knows she should of thought about this before driving but she just needs some advice on what will happen her

Judges take a very very dim view of this.

The fines should be the least of her problems. I have seen people getting jail sentences for this and there is a high prob she will get a jail sentence IMO whether it is suspended or not is another matter. There is a Judge in Cork who would send her to jail without hesitation for 3-4 months.

Talk to a solicitor ASAP and I would also ensure she has a friend with her to Court as surety if she is sentenced.

Although this is a personal view, she should be banned off the road for life for having absolutely no regard for the road traffic law and other road users. If she crashes, every other driver pay for her vis our insurance premia.

No idea TBH...but you should tell your friend that the smart money is on her getting a jail sentence.

We sort of guessed that seeing the 2 year ban didn't stop her.

There is one judge who sits regularly in Bray who has a habit of giving a three month sentence for a second no insurance offence. Legal aid should be assigned because of the seriousness of the offence.

There is definitely a real risk of a custodial sentence here and I think at best she's looking at a very significant ban and a hefty fine. She should talk to a solicitor immediately. Feel free to pm me as I can recommend some very good criminal defence solicitors in the area.
