I am booked on a flight to Finland at the end of September. I need to get to Helsinki, but I am forced to fly into Tampere.

I'll probably just try and find my way to a train station.

Has anyone else ever had any experiencces travellling in Finland ?

It's about 2 hours train journey from Tampere (rail station) to Helsinki. Finnish transport is generally quite good, and the trains are comfortable. Really though, I'd save the money and hassle (and avoid Ryanair) and fly via somewhere direct to Helsinki

Also factor in thats it about 30 minutes by bus (€6) from Tampere airport to Tampere train station and the trains obviously aren't time-correlated with the planes so you might be waiting an hour+ in the train station for the next train.

Having said that its not a lot of hassle if you are on a holiday.

Tampere airport 'terminal' is lol by the way (smaller than Sligo's !).

The problem is that the only airline that flies directly into Helsinki (Aer Lingus)only fly two days per week. So I am looking at adding on another three days of hotel costs.

Other airlines that fliy into Helsinki with connection flights were up to 6x more expensive.

I'll just make the most of the experience while I am there.

I flew into Tampere and then got the bus to the town and the train to Helsinki
no problems at all from what I remember. Just a bit of a language barrier when booking the train but not to much

Train station central in Helsinki so easy enough to find hotel. Cannot remember the cost but not that much all things considering that Finland bit expensiv
