Hi Guys, I need some help please.

My computer is not letting me copy Data folders onto DVD-R disc's that I bought. They are brand new. However, it is telling me that the disc inserted is either full or not a writable disc.

    Any advice?

(PS. I am useless with tech stuff!)

Is your drive a DVD Writer or just a CD Writer? (sorry, starting with the basics)
    Have you tried another disk?
Have other disks worked ok for you?
What application are you using to burn?
    What OS do you have?
    What drive do you have?

Another message when I try to copy a file :

"Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file. What do you want Windows to do?

    Retry / Cancel

I clicked retry & it showed me the same message.

Right regarding the question's above I am really, really crap relating to this stuff - I have made lots of CD's on this PC before, however I don't remember doing DVD's. How do I find out whether its a DVD/CD writer?

Yes, I have tried another disc, same as first one, unfortunetly.

How do I check all of the above questions? ( I feel so stupid:()

Download Nero's infotool and it will tell you all about your drive.
