Urgent Q Re: Ryanair Online Check-in

Organised as always  Off to Cologne tomorrow and booked my flight a month ago. Paid for airport checkin at the time. Received an e-mail that still stated that airport checkin closes 40mins before flight...the usual waffle.

Anyways, someone has started a vicious rumour that Ryanair are only offering online checkin now (i.e. no check-in desks). Just hoping that someone could clarify so I don't end up staying home for a week. Almost certain that that person is wrong but that 1% of doubt is now settled in my mind...

    Thanks!

(I presume it's too late to call the fantastic customer service :) )

Ryanair has announced that, from next Wednesday, all new passenger bookings will have to be made online.
The change will apply to passengers travelling with infants and those carrying bags to be placed in the hold.
The change coincides with the introduction of a new online check-in fee of €5 per person per flight. Passengers who have already checked in online, but who arrive at the airport without their boarding pass, will be charged €40 to have the pass reissued.
The only exception to the new €5 web check-in fee will be passengers who have purchased free fares, or fares of €5 or less.
Ryanair is phasing out all its airport check-in desks by October 1 next.
It is estimated that Ryanair will make an extra €220 million a year from its decision to scrap check-in desks at the 146 airports in which it operates and impose the new online check-in fee.
Said Ryanair`s Stephen McNamara: “Passengers travelling without checked in bags have already embraced our online check-in service, and the extension of this service to all passengers, including those with hold luggage and those travelling with infants, will allow all passengers to forever avoid check-in queues.”
“This will also allow Ryanair to lower our airport and handling costs and pass these savings to all passengers in the form of even lower air fares next winter.”

VERY glad I checked that then. Thank you for the prompt replies, could have been a disaster :) Now I just have to find the bag drop off point.

If you paid for airport check in then you have airport check in. You wont be able to check in online.

Just turn up at the airport and go to the check in desks.

From today there is only an online check in option on the purchase page.

Someone could have purchased airport check in yesterday and even if their flight is not until October can turn up and check in at the airport.

Ryanair haven't added on online checkin fee. Theyv'e just put up all fares by €/£5 per flight but are calling it online checkin fee.
