Do you think Night Owls are physiologically different to the rest of us?

    Yes.

I have come to the conclusion that some peoples natural rhythms just work differently.

My father will be awake around 7 every morning, even on holidays. Getting a coherent thought out of him after midnight is a miracle.

I on the other hand will almost never sleep before 4 in the morning, and I am not fully awake until midday, no matter how many hours I have actually been out of the bed by that stage. My mother was much the same.

I feel I'm a mix.... routinely I shall wake at 6 or 7 like clockwork. Yet I may not fall asleep until 3 or 4am.
    means feck all sleep!
I'm a morning person and a night person.

You're actually a displaced Spaniard, and need to start factoring a siesta into your day! :D

Lol you know, I've had some unplanned siestas actually due to over tiredness lol, usually at the laptop.
But I'm no spaniard, I burn and over heat in the sun, I don't like meat and certainly don't like it rare.
Probably a displaced vampire of sorts :P

Not really. I can operate normally for a few weeks on four/five hours sleep a night so not insomnia... just broken sleeping habits. Insomnia only pops up when I'm stressed or other factors are conflicting with my life. That said, there's a period from around 11pm to 3am where my concentration sharpens and if I'm working, things move much faster... if I'm socialising, i get talkative.

at different stages ive worked starting with eirly starts (8am) and with late starts (12-1pm). while i could function with the eirlier starts i was a hell of a lot more productive when i got up late even with the same ammount of sleep.
im generaly more productive and active at night too. during the morning i tend to feel as if i havnt gotten enough sleep but come evening i start to perk up a bit and by nighttime im wide awake and firing on all cylinders.

i also find it very easy to stay awake for long periods of time but after about 40 hours without any sleep i prity much crash. and i have no problem running on 2-3 hours of sleep per night for about two weeks.

as far as insomnia goes, ive had my fair share of it, spent most of the last years in school and collage stumbling around in a sleepless stuper.

TL;DR: yes, its a different mind set

Oh yes! Normal people do the 9 to 5 thing then hit the pillow at 11 and snore within 5 minutes. The rest of us hit 12 o clock and a little engine in our heads start to rev up and all the gobblydegoop starts to mix and mingle and ........flow. :D

My body clock has been shattered by working shift work. I have no ryhme or reason to my sleep pattern anymore. It has literally become

Nothing important to do + tired = fall asleep

Anytime, and almost any place. Reckon I don't sleep well because of it though. Not deep like I used to.

I have adjusted completely to living at night as opposed to day. My body's rhythms have reset themselves to make me sleepy when it's light out, and freaking wide awake as soon as night falls.

apologies. You used to be able to access it. Found the link off reddit a while back.

General gist was that one of the big US colleges had done lots of research with morning and night people.

    In the 9-5 routine:
Morning people would be active and work at a steady rate until dipping around 2-3pm. They would never return to that rate for the rest of the day.
Night owls would start slow and never reach as high a level as the morning people.

    Working whenever they want:
    Morning people: same as above.
Night owls were much more active and productive during their whole time working. They could also maintain their concentration longer than morning people. One wacky thing they found was that some people worked faster after midnight even if they had been working for a while.

Conclusion: Night owls overall got more work done and were able to keep their concentration longer. Although when forced into 9-5 their results dropped. It ranted on about it all being societies fault.

It was a great read. If I find it anywhere else il link it.

Yes, definitely. My body works best at night. Heck, I can't even eat when the sun is up.

Anyone know where i can meet people to hang out with at night?

I dare one of you with any business sense to open a Day Club. Well really more of a morning club. But NOT A BREAKFAST CLUB.

I could go for a Breakfast Club. Molly Ringwald was pretty cute.
