Has anyone ever played soft tip darts? Is it any good? The darts weight seems to be to light for me. I was watching a game on youtube earlier and all they were going for was bull, what's that all about:confused:!

i use to throw soft tip(just as a mess), the reason why they go for the bull is because it's bigger on a soft tip board then a regular board i think.

i don't know what weight my ST darts were, very very light though i think 8g maybe

another reason they go for the bull is that its 50 points even for a single bull (what would be a 25 on a steel-tip board)

Back before the PDC changed their point system, you would see many of the pros going over to the States to shoot in the 'plastic' tipped tourmnaments to make some money as they were travelling around to the 'steel' tipped tournaments.

Since the 'plastic' tounaments are played on electronic boards that you have to play to play on (each leg). There is much more money to be won in the plastic tournaments.

The thing about plastic tipped throwers is that they are generally very good Cricket players. When it comes to the 01 games, they tend to slip up more than seasoned 'steel' players due to 'plastic' 01 games being single-in and single-out.

It's not a bad auld game, but it is very repetitive and is actually less forgiving that steel if you make a mistake (with the exception of finishing in 'steel').

If any of the this makes sense to anyone.

I have a soft tip board and used to use it when playing my mates who were crap so they wouldn't destroy the wall. I found that it affected my game though when I went back to proper darts because of throwing the lighter dart. Don't use it anymore now.

The first time I played soft tip darts was 9 years ago in Chicago I was playing my cousins boyfriend and his mates at steel tip darts and was unbeaten for a few hours and was challenged to a game of soft tips, so I went up a threw a 100+ score with my first 3 darts needless to say ye man lost the head when I hammered him by about 300 points and fecked his darts across the bar claiming that I had played the game before, also when you hit a big score the lights flash and the game make arcade machine type noises!! Beginner luck you would say!!

The one cool thing about plastic is that they recognise a 10 dart game as the 'perfect game' since they all throw for bulls.

    Bull- Bull- Bull
    Bull- Bull- Bull
    Bull - Bull-Bull
    Trip 17

You can finish on anything that you want.

    It is open-in and open-out.

That's what I meant earlier when I said that it can be more unforgivable. You just can't miss with rules like that.
