Ok, so I am about to start legal proceedings against my employer. I intend to take my employer to the Equality Tribunal. I know alot about employment law, which has helped me considerably with my battle against my employer.
Anyways, this is the biggest decision of my entire life, and is a personal issue for me as well (Which is why I put this post in Personal Issues), because of what my employer have put me through.

Has anyone ever taken their employer to court, The Labour Court, or The Equality Tribunal, or even The High Court? If so, are there any possible risks, or anything I should know before I start legal proceedings?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks a million :)

Any advice you receive on this website will only be encouragement or discouragement. In fairness it cant really help you. Only your legal team can help!

Best of luck I know it must be stressful for you!

I had a difficulty with an Employer over his refusal to pay me redundancy. He said he had dismissed me. I applied to the Employment Appeals Tribunal myself under the Unfair dismissal act and Redundancy act. I was heard after about eight month. I represented myself as the amount in contention was only about 1500 euro. The tribunal were really friendly and adjourned the case for an hour before the hearing and told my employer it would be best if we came to an agreement. My employer paid in full. Its important to have all your paperwork organised in terms of wage slips etc. My case was straightforward in that there were no third parties or witnesses involved. It was basically a paper dispute. You are not entitled to claim legal costs in some cases
You could also try looking for your case to be mediated with a rights commissoner if your employer agrees.
The one thing to be careful of is that the awards are not huge in most cases if you read their annual report.(Employment Appeals)
Why not try looking up the annual report of the equality authority as it might give you some indication of awards. It probably on line somewhere.
Also, if it is a case that you are no longer employed, you may have to show that you have made possible efforts to get new employment.
However, your case may be different.
    Best of Luck
