GUITARIST WANTED for WORKING covers band.

Based in Dublin. Present Guitarist has gigs with other band which has got in the way of gigs. So after having to turn down some gigs we want a new guitarist. Next Gig is on 27th June, giving a potential replacement over a month to get the finger out:)

Below is the present set list. We expect 'all' the learning of the songs to be done away from rehearsal. Rehearsal is just where we bring it together. We are very good musicians, who like to keep the fun element, while obviously making our money:) We age from 28 - 50, so we is not ageist. As long as you can play, willing to pull your weight, and are generally sound (pun intended), we'll be sorted.

PS. We tune our guitars down a semi-tone from concert pitch. You'll see alot of bands do this, it gives more flexibility for the vocal. Any keys above denote the 'shape' of G or D, but as we are down a semi-tone its the G will actually be F#, the E is actually Eb etc. You get the picture:)

Will be looking at auditions next week. (Not wednesday night though, as I'll be watching the boys retain the Champions league:))

We are holding auditions on Tuesday night from 7 for anyone interested. They'll be in DEDSOUD Near Red cow roundabout.

If you are interested in giving it a shot PM me, and we can sort something out with times etc.

There's a few already coming, so we could probably take 1, maximum 2 more guys on the night.

To let you know, we are trying to organise auditions for this Thursday evening. To give you our goals:

1. To enjoy ourselves. While making a few shillings in these recession times is great, we really want to keep it enjoyable. This means we don't want to do songs, or genres that we don't ourselves enjoy.

2. We don't want to waste time (or indeed money), having to learn the songs in rehearsal. So the expectation on all of us, is that the work is done in our own time, its merely 'assembled' at rehearsal.

3. We still like to keep expression in the music. So while, for example solo's, should be learnt to a good degree, we don't mind, in fact we'd encourage ourselves, not to be afraid to let go a bit. We love the raw human element of music, and don't think that it should be quashed just because we are doing covers. SOme folk we've played with have used this as an excuse not to learn stuff and wing it. That is not what the goal is:)

4. Going forward, we hope to be doing 2, maybe 3 gigs a week. Obviously, we have to get them etc, but this is the goal.

5. We have had experience of a few guitarists who are involved in other bands, and it doesn't work for us. Too many clashes with dates etc. So, we want someone who prioritises this band.

6. Going forward we are not going to be looking to rehearse much. We hope we'll have the gigs that will be rehearsl enough. Obviously, if we add more songs to the set, we'll meet to jam them though etc.

I hope this covers most of the questions folk would have. Again, we are experienced guys, and good musicians. Though this band is a new project, we are far from beginners.
